Customer Reviews

Wish it worked
I wish this worked with All model pumps I have 670g awsome I have to say but can’t get any phone apps for it

Good idea, poor follow through
This app continuously fails to stay up to date with the latest IOS. MiniMed seems to not care about staying up to date but instead only wants to advertise capability but not quality. Their competitor has an Apple Watch app that stays up to date, but MiniMed doesn't have a watch app and cannot keep up the iPhone app up to date. Hopefully they step it up to a basic level soon. I switched to Dexcom and it’s 5 Star; simply outstanding and what this app should be.

FIX IT
Come on now. We spend how much money for the pump and supplies yet have no tech support? Get it together people. Can’t download info from pump. Can’t use app. How is this suppose to help me? UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Is it ever going to get an update?
Hasn’t been updated in ages and constantly has to be restarted. Seems Medtronic doesn’t want to support patients still using this system. It’s why I’m looking at Tandem. Overall, it's not a bad app, but it could use many more features starting with its own alarms without having to send a text message. It's bad enough that the alarms on the pump itself are so soft.

😩
Please make it work on IOS 12.

Good product, terrible application
I tried the Guardian Connect after already having the Guardian transmitter on my 670g system. I thought it would be nice to have the CGM info on my phone. Turns out that Medtronic, a multi-billion dollar medical device corporation, hasn't taken the chance to update their iPhone app in 3 YEARS. Absolutely unacceptable. There is no Apple watch app. And the iPhone app will drain your battery in hours. Completely dissatisfied and I will be returning my Guardian Connect transmitter.

670G
Does this app work with the 670G? If not, please make it work with it! This is about the only missing link to what is possibly the best diabetes advancement ever. Would be nice to have remote pump control too, so it can sit on my belt and do what it’s designed to!

Please update
Please finish and create a new update for those who have the upgrades. I’m really struggling trying to find out easier ways to change what I need done but I need visual graphs to know what I need to change this app was my last option. Please for the rest of the type 1 diabetics out there upgrade this app and release a better version for us !!!!!

Iphone 11 Pro Max is not supported
I had an iphone 7 plus which I downloaded this app previously and it worked great for years. But recently i bought an iphone 11 pro max and apparently this app is not compatible with either the phone or the latest ios. It still works on my iphone 7 plus and i have to carry both, which is annoying. Hope that they will fix this issue ASAP

Can’t use if using CGM with pump
It will not let you connect to the cgm if you use it in conjunction with your pump.

Junk won’t pair
Have tried pairing a hundred times with no luck and I follow every step! Junk app especially for the money I pay medtronic! Get your crap together!

iPhone Not Usable
I have to connect a thing called an uploader. It did not come with the starter kit. I cannot use any of my sensor equipment without this piece. I swear to everything technology if I get told I have to pay for that thing, I am out.

Horrible App Designed to Increase Profits
I was advised by a Medtronic rep that Medtronic does not make its money from the sale of their line of pumps; it’s from the sale of supplies. Giving us a fickle app that does NOT work as advertised and leads to the use of more expensive sensors than what we are allowed to use in a month....well that little game means the app works perfectly for THEM as it causes us to run through our supplies at a much faster rate. Oh wait, they tell us to call the 24/7 helpline to get a replacement sensor. That process takes a very long time. You have to answer umpteen mundane repetitive questions and run through troubleshooting (despite the troubleshooting you’ve already accomplished), before they will agree to send you a replacement sensor. I’m supposed to do that every week?! The T:slim 2x and Dexcom G6 are looking much more inviting. I’ve been Type 1 for 32 years and a pumper using Medtronic Minimed for 22 years. I know my pumps. I know my IT. This CGM system and app is not worth your time, money, or the frustration. In a nutshell this app: 1. Fails to maintain its bluetooth connectivity 80% of the time. 2. Fails to maintain its connection to your account. 3. Requires calibration a minimum of 4-6 times per day and night. 4. If you miss a demand for calibration or Guardian Connect remains disconnected for long, the transmitter turns off and you have to insert a new sensor ($ ching ching $$) 5. You will receive conflicting messages from the app (You are predicted to go low in the next 4 hrs....(5 min later)....your blood sugar level is rising rapidly....lost connection, please calibrate) 6. You’ll wake up and see you did not get one. single. reading. all. night. long. Buyer beware. Caveat emptor. el comprador tenga cuidado. Acheteur, mefiez-vous. Kupac pazi. Kupac pazi.

Wish it worked
I wish this worked with All model pumps I have 670g awsome I have to say but can’t get any phone apps for it

Wish it worked
I wish this worked with All model pumps I have 670g awsome I have to say but can’t get any phone apps for it

Good beginning
Ok guys. Apple updates software like every few months. After the latest update, the app no longer works. Apple watch support would be good too.

Works good....mostly
When the connection is good, it seems to work about 60% of the time every time. Sometimes at night it times out, then I do not get the critical page to my phone to alert of low BG. The app has needed an update for at least 3 iOS revisions. Adding a watch partner app would also be great for those that would like to see data while exercising. Medtronic has made a good step in technology, but there is a responsibility to keep it updated. It works, but has been "non OS compliant" for some time now. With the latest iOS update it can’t see the internet connection and therefore won’t open.

Needs Updating.
Although the app achieves what’s advertised. An update is needed to match OS. In Addition compatibility with Apple Health would be nice.

Medtronic Doesn't Understand Software
This app has potential, which Medtronic is once again squandering. The app has not been updated since September 2015. Where is the ability to see more than 24 hours worth of data? Where is the ability to connect to an Apple Watch? Where is improved connectivity and reliability? Where is the ability to receive pump alarms on your phone? Medtronic has shown that it does not have the ability to keep either its hardware or software up to date. It is still selling pumps with crude 1990's screens. It takes many months to update its CareLink software for new OS releases (despite being a web app). The new pump they will be selling in the US is still technologically inferior to the one they have been selling abroad for over a year. This app was a chance for them to show that they were finally taking software seriously. They have failed miserably. "We'll improve things REAL SOON NOW. Trust us." Not anymore. As a Medtronic user, I am feeling that I will always be stuck in the past. UPDATE: Another year has passed, and absolutely nothing has changed.

Medtronic fails again
Our family used the Connect for a little over 2 years. It was a great concept for the caregiver, enabling them to know the pumper’s interstitial glucose (iG) in real time, and to receive text alerts when the iG got out of range. We spoke with customer service reps and developers several times regarding the many flaws mentioned in other reviews, with few results. Since Medtronic has actually done nothing to fix the problems since they released the Connect in September 2015, nor have they incorporated it into succeeding pump versions, we have realized that the Connect was actually a prototype put into mass production too early, either due to pressure from the competition (Dexcom) or to have a larger test group help pay for the testing through retail sales. It is unfortunate that Medtronic has apparently chosen not to move forward with this technology, perhaps because it only helps customers and their families, but not their bottom line. On 8/27/17, Medtronic printed my comment in their ‘loop-blog’ that ended with this statement: “From all I’ve read and heard, it seems caregiver services will not be included in whatever is left of the Connect concept in future pumps, including those being sold now. If I am wrong, I hope someone from Medtronic corrects me.” As of 10/14/17 there had been no response. Draw your own conclusions. 11/21/17 update: not only is there still no response from Medtronic to my 8/27 challenge, but also the Connect device is no longer listed as a product on the Medtronic website. Too bad. The Connect was a great concept, but Medtronic chose to abandon rather than improve it.

Update your app so I can use it
With the current apple update I can no longer use this app. I would really like to show my dr my roller coaster now that my sensitivity has changed.

Uploader missing
Where do i even buy this "uploader" connect from? And why do i even need it? If my pump has Bluetooth so does my phone then i dont see a need for a device in the middle. My phone should already be smart enough to read what my pump has to send

Update past due
Will we ever see an update or has Medtronic given up? Still no response from Medtronic. Safe to assume at this point they have given up on the users / customers. Very disappointing.

$99 Hardware, no software support
This app is still certified for iOS 8 and 9 only. Apple is now on iOS 11. If there ever was a commentary on how little Medtronic "gets it" in the world of technology their patients want, this is it.

iOS
hi, this app is unsupportive of the current iOS software.. an Update please!

Today the app is reporting no Internet connection.
This is the first time the app has failed to connect.

Want this for my son MM630G
This app need to be updated to monitor the MM630G.

Needs an update still.
Wow still waiting. For an update. Unable to connect on new Iphone7 with ios10. Problem is this app is not up to date. Please update. Now it's 03/2017 and still no update and still can't use it. Not able to link to phone. This app is about to be no longer useable in the next major update. And looks like they are not going to do anything to bring this up to date.

Poor execution
The app effectively shows the CGM trend line. That's nice. It doesn't show any of the other info that the Pump has on it, and which the Connect device is transmitting. This app would be extremely useful if it also showed this information (blood sugars, insulin on-board, boils history, basal rate, etc). Medtronic has had nearly two years to add that support. The fact that they haven't updated the app once in that time is supremely disappointing.

"app" is junk- wrapper over their website!!
The app says it hasn't been tested to work since iOS 6.0. No, that is NOT a typo! Doesn't really matter anyway - it isn't an app at all. It just runs Safari in a window, interferes somehow with it filling in your password automatically, and then brings up the website. Just open the carelink website in the browser - it will save and restore your password and let you login faster. The alerts (texts) come from their website anyway - not the app. They need to actually write an app. I am an app developer so I Understand this stuff. So poorly written, the thing on the phone that uploads the info to the web is useful (which is where the connect has value - not this cr - app) - it will allow other users of the website to get texts when high or low. When that part is working it is good. Now, the other issue is their CGMS that they say is more accurate than the meter tests - but it uses them to calibrate so it can NOT be. At best, it is +/- some % from the meter reading. And that has been about 100. So, it warns you that you are low when it says you are at 50, but you are really st 150 when you test. (Or wakes you up at 4 am!) It is better than nothing. Mostly, on the high side. It will tell you that you hit 300, when you are really at 200 - which is still high. It loses its calibration all the time, and some brilliant engineer coded it to stop talking to a sensor once it fails to calibrate twice. And how can it fail???? You told it the number, so it should be able to figure it out, or ask you for another reading in 15 minutes until it has the data to calibrate correctly. Bad programmers all around on this. Like they outsourced to India or China or something. I don't trust the numbers, they tell you not to trust them as well... System has value, this app doesn't

Needs updating
This had a good start but there have been no updates. The app no longer reads my uploader. This has turned into a waste of money.

Update past due
Will we ever see an update or has Medtronic given up?

Pleased but need an alarm.
I rely greatly on this APP to monitor my daughter at night. It's great, but please please add an alarm to the app. I can't hear her alarm on the pump & with this APP on my phone next to my bed.... I need an alarm for LOWS. Please please add an alarm feature!!

Updates?
It's a step in the right direction, but I'm still waiting for a software update. It has been over a year and there haven't been any updates. An improved version for iOS 10 would be nice, as would compatibility with Apple Watch. April 2017: Still no updates, improvements, or response from Medtronic to let us know what's going on. I expect SO much better from Medtronic! I am decreasing my rating to 1 star now for the lack of follow-through and because the app now opens with an error stating it isn't made for (or stable) on the most recent iOS release. Very disappointing.

Not great
Feels like a step backwards in a lot of ways. Dexcom looked outdated to me and limited but at least I have alarms and can input some things like carbs and insulin. I feel like this is just a pretty screen, but your pump is right there with the same information and you have to use it in most cases anyways. Carrying an extra tiny piece of plastic around is pretty annoying too. Btw, it's been about a year since they've updated this software according to the upgrade history. UPDATE: Forced to use this sensor again because of an issue ordering dexcom. I can't stand this thing. My dex would sync with the health app and then to onedrop allowing me to see my weekly average on the phone and Apple Watch. All that is gone now that I'm back with this inferior device. So upset at Medtronic. I wish I could stop using them entirely.

Needs an update
Unable to connect on new Iphone7 with ios10. Problem is this app is not up to date. Please update. Now it's 03/2017 and still no update and still can't use it. Not able to link to phone. This app is about to be no longer useable in the next major update. And looks like they are not going to do anything to bring this up to date.

Helpful
Mini med connect is a great concept and often it allows me to look at my phone instead of digging my pump out. My only two complaints are that the software keeps loosing the connection to my pump. If I don't keep the app running continuously then when I restart it I will have to connect the device (pump) again which is a pain Second complaint is that there is no Apple Watch app. That would make this software so much more useful

Awesome!
Just upgraded to 630g! What an awesome pump! when will this be available on that devise? I really enjoyed and my family enjoyed being able to have the ablilty to see what my blood glucose was at anytime during the day! So little irritated that this feature isn't available on my new devise. But works fantastic on my old paradigm revel pump!!

Good idea, poor follow through
This app continuously fails to stay up to date with the latest IOS. MiniMed seems to not care about staying up to date but instead only wants to advertise capability but not quality. Their competitor has an Apple Watch app that stays up to date, but MiniMed doesn't have a watch app and cannot keep up the iPhone app. Hopefully they step it up to a basic level soon.

Don't waste your time and money
I will never buy anything from Medtronic ever again. This app was great for 5minutes before it lost the signal for the uploader. Never worked again. Doesn't matter anyway because the Enlite sensor is completely inaccurate. Why go through all of this for bad data? The failsafe function where is shuts off the pump when you're low would be great if you were actually low when it says you are. Up all night with a pump that won't stay on and a child with blood sugars in the 300s. Not to mention that when I called to simply find out which model iPhone to buy to get this to work, customer service was extremely rude and insisted that I could not possibly have received the uploader (which I had) and that I needed to buy one. This is a great idea, but the execution is terrible. On the upside, my child is very happy with her new iPhone.

Connectivity and Compatibility
The concept of this app is phenomenal. It provides a handheld platform for displaying glucose sensor trend information, and updates cloud information for my healthcare providers. It has been incredibly useful for driving and skiing when my insulin pump is not readily accessible. I display the app when driving, and use it to plan stops and snacks based on the trend graph. I use it to monitor glucose while skiing similarly when my pump is under layers of clothing. The display of pump, sensor, and uploader status shows battery levels, connectivity, remaining insulin, and remaining sensor life at a glance. One complaint is that it sometimes takes a while to connect and display the trend graph, and sometimes hangs up doing so. A second complaint is that the development team is slow to keep up with Apple IOS releases. While the app still functions, this necessitates an override when first launching the app.

Updates?!?!
This app hasn't been updated since 2015? So since my iPhone now runs iOS 10, will I forever have to see the annoying start-up message that the app may not be compatible with my phone? (How about a "check here" box to disregard after seeing it once?!) This app needs updates! How about a refresh button? How about seeing basal rates (atleast temp basals!)? Bolus history? Sensor ISIG? This app/ device has so much potential but it is sad to see that everything seems to be going into advertisements instead of actual app development. Disappointing indeed. Medtronic - offering the Basics... 💁🏻 ...

Please add Apple Watch app
I'm a long distance runner with type 1 diabetes. If I could see my BG level on my Apple Watch it would change my life! Please consider adding this capability.

Good information
Right on the phone. This has been great for me. Also, having a colorful screen and graph is so much easier to read than the pump. Pleeeeeeease make an app for the Apple Watch now. Update: Hard to believe this has been out this long and still no Apple Watch or Apple Health support. Other companies are so more attuned to those things. I hope Medtronic can figure out what works well for consumers. Another Update: Another month and no update for the Apple Watch?? Why can all the other companies get their apps on Apple Watch and Medtronic cannot? Losing faith in Medtronic. Yet another update: This has to be such an embarrassment to Medtronic not to have an Apple Watch app for this device. It is beyond belief how every other diabetes app has a watch companion app, but not MiniMed.

Okay.....but..
After so many months, why is this app still warning us that it isn't supported under the latest iOS? Also - would be great if it linked in with something like 'my fitness pal' so food intake / glucose could be tracked together.

How many 1 Star reviews before Apple Watch is supported?
Meh. MiniMed, Get on it already! For those who can't wait, check out night scout.

Useless app
For months, app says it's not been updated to the latest IOS. Yet Medtronic is still selling it. I can no longer pair to my iPhone 7 plus.

Needs more.
As other reviewers had said, this app would be much more useful with a few more features. I would really like to be able to add notes so I could remember why a BG reading might have happened the way it did or so I can recording when I'm basal testing, sick, exercise, etc... I also wish the app would either have an alarm or be able to control the alarms on the pump. Most often I wear my pump hooked to my bra. The idea of the app is awesome so I don't have to reach under my shirt to mange my diabetes; however, the current app doesn't solve any issues for me. Whenever this is a problem or alarm, I still have to control it on my pump. Hopefully some improvements will come soon!

Embarrassing software from Medtronic
Recently upgraded my 5 year old pump with a 630g. I was looking forward to combining my pump and CGM (coming from Dexcom G5). No way now. After trying the CGM on the pump, with this software, it's clear Medtronic has a long way to go. With my Dexcom I can take a 1 second glance at my Apple watch to see my bg and trend. I only need to pull my pump out if I need to adjust. And it's ridiculous that it's been over a year since this app has been updated. Clearly the developers (if there are any now), are not trying to improve the user experience. Until Medtronic catches up to Dexcom, I will be a hold out using my new pump for anything except insulin delivery.

Not ready.
I have an iphone 6 plus and its interface is not compatible. I think this is ridiculous. It doesnt look the same as the screen shots. Why isnt it compatible with the watch? That would be amazing. Im not allowed to use my phone at work and i work with the general public so my pump isnt always accessible to see my numbers. I would love for some updates to happen. This isnt ready. It should still be in the test phase.

Why Does It Need Internet Access 24/7?
This app will NOT launch unless you are connected to the internet. That is ridiculous. Especially when uploading data to CareLink is optional. It makes using this app when in the boonies or on a plane impossible. Please fix this nonsense requirement.

Good beginning
I like the app. I monitor my trends and I like the freedom to check my glucose whenever I want by looking at my phone. As others have said, I want more data on my phone. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to see everything on my care link reports on the app. For now, I would like to be able to scroll my trends back more than 24 hours and see my last bolus amount. Apple Watch support would be phenomenal as well. Keep up the good work. This is a great product with lots of potential on both the hardware and software side.

Not terrible, but...
This app is a good first effort. Annoyingly, it just quits for no apparent reason every 10 hours or so. This is a drag if you're counting on it to transmit missed alerts to the Carelink site. I'd be very pleased if it just kept working.

Not great
Feels like a step backwards in a lot of ways.

Expected more
I was excited when they dropped the price from 199 to 99. Should have been a red flag. Was not what I expected. Charging life is not long, the connect has to be attached to you the APP says iOS devise not supported (iPhone 5s current iOS) PLEASE UPDATE. This is something I have always wanted. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Apple Phone Compatibility
Any progress on making this app adaptable to Apple Watch. It would be great if my watch shows BG and maybe trending

It's almost good
I really like the app when it's working, but there needs to be an update to make it compatible with the most current version of iOS.

Should be able to give more info
I like the discreetness of being able to check my blood sugar but wish it gave more info. What I would really like is an Apple Watch app so I really could be discreet. Too bad we can't bolus from the app. It also would be nice if family members could get the info on their app instead of having to log on through the Internet.

Getting better
...they finally released an update. I hope they support iOS 10 quicker than the supported 9.3.5. Overall, it's not a bad app, but it could use many more features starting with its own alarms without having to send a text message. It's bad enough that the alarms on the pump itself are so soft.

Needs Apple Watch support too
I love this app. It could be made even better with Apple Watch support. The NightScouter app does this with DecCom GCM devices.

Updates?
It's a step in the right direction, but I'm still waiting for a software update. It has been over a year and there haven't been any updates. An improved version for iOS 10 would be nice, as would compatibility with Apple Watch.

Neglected App
How can Medtronic not update this app in over a year? How can there not be a compatible Apple Watch app by now? Every single time you open the app you get a warning message that it is not compatible with the current iOS and they are working hard to update the app. On iOS 9 and now on iOS 10. Yeah, right. Unacceptable. There is such a technological market for type 1 diabetics and their caregivers that Medtronic is obviously not investing seriously in. Maybe it's time to change my insulin pump investment going forward.

Needs work
Routinely loses connection with the extra $100 transmitter it requires (which must be recharged every 1-2 days). The CareLink function of the app is currently down, all day. Customer support is not saying when it will work again. I like being able to read CGM on my phone but this is buggy and aggravating. Investigate alternatives.

Love the app - Please update
This is a great system and service that I use everyday, but would love to see it updated. We have gone through two new versions of iOS and have not seen seen an update of Connect since September 2015. It is time to update Medtronic.

Needs to be fixed to work with iOS 10
Worked about half the time until my phone did the mandatory update to iOS 10, now won't work at all. Very disappointed with all of it.

Where's the watch app?
Please fix the app so it works on new iOS updates?! You guys know ahead of time when the new iOS is coming out so there little excuse for a month long period where the app doesn't work...(just give us 1 warning that the iOS is unapproved then let the app run without having to reconnect EVERYTIME I USE THE APP!!!). And for god sakes, get an Apple Watch complication and Heath app integration.

Mediocre
How can a medical technology company release an app and not have a single update in a year? The app has no notifications. Its really just "give us $99 and you can pull your phone out and look at it instead of pulling your pump out and looking at it". Oh, and after you look at your phone, you can pull your pump out to take action because the app doesn't do that either.

Good for now.
Unable to connect on new Iphone7 with ios10. Problem is this app is not up to date. Please update.

I Wish I Could Give This Zero Stars
A little bit of background... I work in an application development group for my career, so I am pretty savvy when it comes to technology. I bought the MiniMed Connect Uploader piece a few days ago and it arrived in the mail today. I was so excited to use it and set it up. I followed the directions on setting it up, but right as I downloaded the app it said that the app hasn't been tested with my iOS version. I get that you may be an iOS version behind, but this app is awful. The app hasn't had a release since September of 2015. The app has also only had one release since the initial release in August 2015. Now, I have an iPhone and an Apple Watch. My iOS is 9.2, and the details of this app clearly state that iPhones are supported with iOS 8.3 or higher. But, I get an exception every time I open the application about how it hasn't been tested and data may not be visible like it should be. I thought nothing much of it until I found that I couldn't setup notifications for the application in Notification Center. This is after I restarted my phone and reinstalled the application. I haven't gotten anything to work. I have been able to get the app to show up on the notifications menu (the one that you slide your finger down from the top of your phone to see), but even with that, the app still doesn't show up under Notification Center in Settings. I then decided to call support to see if they had an idea for me to get this fixed. No ideas, but a suggestion to use a different device that has an older iOS version on it... I was very peeved at this point and mentioned that suggestion is not an option. I am not going to buy a new device (which will have the same iOS version on it) just so the app won't work on that either. I then asked when the next update for the app is expected. I was told that they update the app all of the time and it is just really hard to keep up to Apple's updates. I would have believed this, but if you look at the "Releases" section, there's only two releases listed with the last one being in September 2015. I will be calling them tomorrow to ask for a refund due to the fact that I paid $99 for this technology and it doesn't even function as it states it should on the website (notifications of predicted high or predicted low blood sugars) and it also doesn't support iOS versions that it states it should support (iOS versions 8.3 or higher - my iOS is 9.2).

9.2 update needed!
Please update the app to support iOS 9.2. Update: 6/27/16 This app still does not support the latest iOS! Come on now, this is ridiculous!

It's a good start! But needs a little more.
The app is ok, wish there were a few more extra features like being able to alert another person through text if you go low. Also would be great to have an Apple Watch feature that would display my Blood sugar on my watch at a glance. Instead of having to pull out my phone. Also alerts would be nice! Say for predicting lows or highs or if the battery or pump is low on insulin. Maybe make this like a remote app for the pump so I don't have to take the pump out in public to bolus. If these features were added, and work well, I would rate 5 stars and be super happy. Living with diabetes is sometimes frustrating and anything that can make day to day life easier is so much better. This is 2016. We should have stuff like this already.

Better than nothing, But...
I like it and it is progress. However, one mayor issue I have with this app, is that I use it for my child and the warnings come in from a different number every time. If I put my phone on silent and want to get sound alerts from favorites it won't work because it is likely the next message will arrive from a new number. Also, caretakers should be able to use an app as well. The web page is cumbersome and slow. And gives you even less info than the app does. Please update!

Garbage, just buy the DEXCOM G5
This thing is a waste of money. I just switched to the Dexcom G5 Mobile and it's so much better. I now have all my data on my Apple Watch, I have alerts on phone and watch, and the Dexcom sensor is 100 times more accurate.

Bloodsugar readings
I was told this was easy and would show my readings. Obviously not. I'd like the convenience as a type 1 mom on the go of being able to send reports to my doctor and review it on my phone. Guess not!

Medtronic Disappoints! Again!
It is very easy to tell that improvements to the MiniMed Connect system have been abandoned within Medtronic, if they ever existed. Just open the app for the first time, as I did a few weeks after they started to sell the connect device in November 2015. iOS 9 had recently been released and when I first opened the app I was warned that the app wasn't supporting iOS 9 - but I could use it anyway. As of the end of May 2016, I get the same warning. Medtronic has only released one software update, which was a few weeks after the the app was launched. So there was originally v. 1.0 and now there is v. 2.0. Absolutely no bug fixes, enhancements, new features - nothing. And it badly needs them. The Connect device is constantly disconnecting from the iPhone and often simply will not reconnect. It is supposed to upload its data to CareLink, which I have never gotten to work. I was initially excited about this system. It was a way to read data from my pump rather than using the reto black and white LCD screen on my pump - which hasn't been updated in 20 years! Now that I am 50 reading it is quite a chore. (The pumps have been updated of course, but they continue to use the 1990 screen technology in the newer pumps.) But ailas it proved so difficult to use the Connect device that after two weeks I stuck it in a drawer. This week while struggling to read my pump screen, I became hopeful that I had been too harsh in my initial assessment and tried it again. But no, it is the exact same version of the software, the bad connections, and it still doesn't support iOS 9. Well done Medtronic!!

Helpful
Mini med connect is great and the software does what it shows it will do. I have had my share of challenges getting the mini med connect to talk to the various devices at times but generally speaking it works most of the time without any issue at all. I like the software a lot, and it is very helpful to use and you could pick up more information quicker from using the app then you can going to the various screens of your pump to get the same information. My only complaint, I wish that they would keep up with the software rollouts so that you don't have to keep acknowledging that the software is not ready for this version of the iOS software, and more importantly I'm extremely anxious for the I watch to be available. When and if the I watch app becomes available, then I feel like this will be a five star set up as I could see myself using that I watch app most frequently.

Please update this
What thin excuse for an app. I stay disconnected more than I stay connected. No alert features that I see for myself. Apple Watch support also needed. I understand it takes FDA approval to make changes to this app, but come on!!

Works Great So Far
The app works great so far for me. I have no complaints about how it's working. The features included work well and reliably. I hope that in the future we can get some added features and Apple Watch support. The transmitter has good distance between it and the phone. The transmitter only works relatively close to the pump, however. I'd imagine that's more of a limitation with the pumps communication than the transmitter. I enjoy being able to quickly check my current ISIG without pulling out my pump. It works great in meetings and when busy with other tasks. Being able to quickly see active insulin and reservoir status is also a huge plus. The wireless uploading to CareLink once a day (or manually on demand) is great. Makes it so much easier to get data into CareLink on a timely basis.

Misleading advertising, waste of $100, and terrible app
We purchased the transmitter/receiver and installed the app for our daughter because MiniMed's website says "view insulin pump & CGM information on your mobile device." We didn't know that the app only shows active insulin and reservoir level. What we need it to show is bolus history (including historical bolus wizard data). Your advertisement is misleading and, in my opinion, you are intentionally being dishonest in an attempt to sell the $100 transmitter/receiver. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Frustrating
So I update my phone after a month of seeing the icon and now Connect doesn't support it? I have been trying to download my son's information for close to an hour and nothing.

Should be instant
When you open this app, it can take minutes to "update". Not sure what it is doing during this time but all I want is my meter reading. This should be instant then it can update after I see this number. If it takes minutes and I have to look at my pump then this device is useless.

Buggy
My main issue with this app is most of the time when I launch the app, it has to update itself before I can see my graph on it and the update takes long enough that I give up on the app and look at my pump instead. Also wish it showed when my boluses were like the pump graph does. Alarms would be nice since I often either don't hear the pump beeping or for some reason I don't feel the vibration. An alarm on the phone would be very helpful to me.

Good for now.
As like everyone else has said many missing things. Really wished I could get alarms on phone. Very hard to hear alerts on the pump. But will be waiting for updates.

Can't wait for an update with more features!
App is definitely a start. But I need more than just a way to look at my readings. Needs to allow for more pump information to be recalled from within app.

Sadly... Not worth your time
Was so very excited for this! Glad that my husband & other 'care helpers' could access my blood sugars with ease... Sadly no. The app itself rarely works, and after talking & meeting with a Medtronic rep, hoping it was just a fluke, the second connect received doesn't work any better. I have my pump so why do I need the app? The app itself can only be used by the wearer of connect, NOT caregivers. They have to log onto care link, enter username & passwords only to find out there is a 'weak signal'. This is both on wifi & 4g. If my app doesn't show 'weak signal' it shows 'updating' for a long time. Last time I tried it, over 20" before giving up. Nice try Medtronic, but PLEASE don't release products before they're ready, & in this case... NOT READY. And yes, another reviewer is right in saying that every time you open app, it says that the iOS is outdated but they are working on it. I've had app & connect for almost two months & error still comes up. Sorry Medtronic, this is a miss especially at such a high cost.

Pretty BUT!
Dev team needs to reassess how app can be at least relatively okay with the latest iOS release. For the sake of sanity at least be forthcoming that the app will not tell the pump to do so much as even silence an alarm. That feature alone would legitimize my making use of my $199 outlay.

Waste of Money for a Diabetic
So, originally the connect device was $199, now it's $99. Why? This app is horrible. The companion device loses connection a ton! This app is terrible because of the lack of notifications. You are a diabetic, and you have a CGM. What do you want out of an app? Alerts? Not this app. The entire system lacks the one thing that would make this useful. Having relevant information presented to you when you need it. If I am getting low, I want an alert. If I am getting high, I want an alert. If my battery is low, an alert. Maybe an alert when I am running out of insulin. They honestly expect you to use Notification Center or open the app. What about a pop up alert? Nope. My guess is that the hardware is so bad (due to the reliability of the thing connecting) that they can't make it work reliably. So what's left? A complete waste of $99 or $199 depending on when you bought the companion device. Sadly, a company that realizes their product is no good won't even help relieve the early adopters of the overpriced piece of garbage they released. DO NOT BUY THE CONNECT! And all you diabetics out there that say it's a step in the right direction. STOP. This thing is garbage. Just admit it. The programming is lack luster, and the device doesn't work well. This is not what being a diabetic in 2016 should be like. Stop accepting mediocrity!

Minimed connect
I just got a new 530g, can and mini need connect. Just getting it set-up and have an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2. Disappointed this app has not upgraded. Also, I plan on upgrading iOS as they come out, am I ever going to get to use this device? Very disappointed.

Great but missing things
Agree with others. Feel this is good but lacking many things. Would love to have all the info available on the pump or the carelink site. Would LOVE to be able to enter real notes. I don't recall weeks later why I was high/low. Need an Apple Watch app or notifications ability. Add notifications when low/high. How was this missed?

Update!
I just received the MiniMed connect for Christmas. They fail to update consistently. For iPhone, Apple updates constantly! Well, they don't update the app to go with it. If they respond that they are "working on it"...this has been just under 2 months now and no update from MiniMed.

Good Idea - Needs to be able to upload bg monitor readings
The Connect is a great way to see all of your current info on your phone, but unless you have the newest cgm hardware it is rendered somewhat useless. Minimed needs to allow the glucose meter readings that are sent to the pump to be uploaded into the app. Otherwise this will only benefit a small portion of minimed users and will make the connect a waste of $100

Good more features
I like the connect especially in the gym. I can look at my phone instead of pulling my pump out of my pocket. I wish it had more features. Display and accept the notifications. Show boluses and the time of the insulin effectiveness on the chart. Ability to see and change the pump settings.

Where's the watch app?
Please fix the app so it works on iOS 9.2! You guys know ahead of time when the new iOS is coming out so there little excuse for a 2-week long period where the app doesn't work... Also why doesn't this show manual BG's and insulin data points? No liability there, so should be easy to implement.

Good App ... With Great Potential
Love the ability to discretely see Up to 24hr history of Enlite sensor reading!! Thank you for this tool!! In a future version, please consider the following improvements which can make this app amazing: 1. Please persist at least 1-7 days worth of BG history (you can purge >7days and avoid resynching to last matching value) -- this helps maintain a history of values shared with others. 2. Please include some details captured by the pump- recommend displaying small tic marks (with unique colors) to indicate: a. Bolus entries (and units). b. BG (mg/dl) events captured to sync the sensor. c. Carbs (grams) captured as meals. 3. From the menu, an accessible list of 1-7 days worth of this events listed in #2 (bolus, BG, carbs consumed). 4. One more nice-to-have would include an menu option to review a select set of basic stats/analysis/reports over the same covered timeframe.

Good start
This app is a good start. I think it was developed because Dexcom will soon connect to phones so Medtronic felt behind. Integration with HealthKit and with the iWatch would be amazing. Eventually control of the pump would be the gold standard.

What little it offers is actually a lot.
This is awesome. A great idea. While this app doesn't provide a lot, what it does is open the door to the possibilities. What is offered in this app has worked flawlessly for me. No issues whatsoever. I look forward to the development of this app to include a lot of the same things the CareLink Website offers. In the immediate future I would like the ability to add notes to my daily log through the app. J

Encouraging start
Would like to have notifications in the lock screen and control of the pump from the app. Very good start though!

Not ready yet!
Absolutely wonderful, until it crashes. Works without Internet for a while, then refuses to work until you connect to the Internet. Totally jammed up my iPod with 7 GB of data. Had to delete app by connecting to computer. Sending back, waiting for better software. Also, needs better battery so it doesn't have to charge every night. Also, appears to send data to Medtronic even when the Carelink function is turned off. Can't wait for the the bugs to get out so I can try it again. Meanwhile, steer clear.

Needs upgrades/to work on Apple Watch
Pricey for Bluetooth transmitter! I was really expecting more; I.e. Alarms, etc.,etc. But most of all being able to interface with my Apple Watch , so all I would need would be to glance at watch for current glucose readings. Nada! Only have app for phone. Upgrade app to work in Apple Watch and I'm happy (Had to wait years for Medtronic to finally make "care link" compatible with Mac 's system. Don't know what they have against Apple)

Works but has no features
It works, doesn’t crash and those things, but really doesn’t do anything. I was really expecting more from an app like this - notifications on glucose levels, review insulin intake for different days, basal review, integration with Apple Health, etc… The app could have a lot of promise but at this point its just a glorified screen of you blood sugar levels that are shown on the pump.

Good start.. Now bring on the rest!!
I like the display, and especially the remaining life on both reservoir and sensor. Needs more features.. like pump events, carbs, bolus, basal rate changes, alerts, especially the Threshold Suspend alert! Ability to add notes such as activities & meals would be amazing and also necessary (IMHO). Also just maybe the uploader Bluetooth can be built into a future pump model. ? Make it round like a battery and rechargeable and I'll buy a spare. :) Keep the momentum up, please!!

Good, but lots of wasted space
I really like the app, but the page with the uploader, pump, and sensor details is a huge waste of space. The words are enormous, but the details that really matter are extremely small and difficult to read. Improving the user experience is critical to get this up to a 5-star app.

It's a start
Well, I like it and I would purchase again. I like techie toys and it is cool to get info on my iPhone. The connections are a little buggy, but for the most part it works. Most notable is what it doesn't do. Doesn't control the pump, which I didn't expect but would be awesome. Doesn't display all the info: last bolus and amount, last hard reading, it has the info but can't be accessed in app. (Weird thing, the Carelink mobile site intended for sharing data with others actually displays more info, including alarms, just not the personal app) You can't put in notes, which would have kicked it up to four stars at least and doesn't seem like a difficult thing technically or regulatory wise. That would improve the usefulness of Carelink tremendously. Biggest disappointment: doesn't alarm. They missed the opportunity to fix the inadequate pump alarm. THAT would give it five stars and would be a genuine advancement in management AND safety! First iteration, so hopefully improvements will come. Maybe even a link to a nutrition and exercise app. Yeah, those seem important items for interpreting insulin and glucose data. Seems you would want them in Carelink. Out of the gate, it really adds little to management, just cool tech and a more seamless upload. like cool tech so that is well enough, but I hope they can add substance down the road.

Doesn't support HealthKit
Works alright, but only displays 24 hours of CGM data. Why not integrate this with HealthKit, Medtronic?

Where's the watch app?
This is pretty decent for a 1st gen app but given the time we wait on the FDA for approval, we kinda have time to form higher expectations for these products/software.

It's a start
Like others have said, it does give a basic overview of your sensor readings, remaining battery and insulin, but that's about it. I would love if the information could be fed into the apple health app. And alarms are a must! I never even hear the alarms from my pump at night.

I wish...........
This app and hardware fall short of being helpful. I can look at my pump and get the same information. Folks, I'm already wearing something. Just another 'thing' to wear. I can't look at the iphone to see what an alarm might mean. I can't adjust the volume of the alarm on either device. (I want it louder) I can't 'discretely' administer more insulin. It doesn't give a daily average, for me to see how the day is going. It does not work with the apple watch. At its best, this is just another device for Medtronic to collect data. Its a good thing that I got this at half price, because it doesn't even approach worthwhile af full price.

Love it when it works.
Many hopeful review with great input to make the app more useful for pump wearers. All for more details, BUT with latest pump, latest iPhone, this app freezes constantly requiring me to shut down, restart phone. Would like updates to address this problem. When it works, it looks great!

9.2 update needed!
Please update the app to support iOS 9.2.

Good start, but please update with more features
I was very excited to start using my new device, and I have been happy with the interface and abilities thus far. However I find myself wanting more features. I wish there was a way to make my phone buzz for a notification when I am high or low, instead of my pump. I have a hearing loss and often cannot hear my pump notifications, plus I would rather it be a notification on my phone so that only I can see or hear it. Also, if bolus and basal data could be viewed within the app that would be helpful as well. It seems as if this should be possible because it can be uploaded to care link. And lastly, make the care partner section a companion app where the people I add can only see certain what I want to share with them, not the entire upload. The app shouldn't be too difficult to improve upon and add these simple features that will make the connected well worth the money.

Works great, but features lacking.
Beautiful app and a great start. This is something that should have been done ages ago. Sadly, for paying $200 for the connect device all you can really do is look at your blood sugars and upload to Carelink. I'm hoping future updates will increase what you can do with the app. I'd like there to be a function where you can add notes about meals, activities, reasons for highs/lows etc. This would greatly help to determine reasons for blood sugar trends. It would also be nice to incorporate notifications. No complaints on how the app currently works. It just needs more.

Just a prettier graph than the pump
I was expecting a much more robust system given the $200 price for the Minimed connect transmitter. This app relays the same data viewable on your pump to your phone. What would be truly helpful, are these two things: trends and notifications. I want to be able to see the same reports from Carelink directly on my phone and interact with them. If users were also able to receive notifications for say, falling or rising blood sugar, that would further the value of this app to patients. In its current condition, do not buy unless you have immense disposable income. Until a more comprehensive app is released, I wouldn't recommend this product.

Good start I hope
I guess I was hoping more for a complete carelink app. What the connect does it does well, but it is so limited. The only advantages over looking at my pump are a much clearer display of the graphs and auto upload to carelink. Like other reviews, I was also hoping for more phone integration with alerts/alarms, insulin bolus/basal, and the ability for notes. I don't have an Apple Watch but I would think this should be a priority for both minimed and apple. This would be a killer feature. Guess I'll just have to wait for Glooko integration.

Apple Watch App
Please make this for the Apple Watch. It would be so nice to not have to use my phone and be able to see it on the watch!

Good Start
This is a good start but I would like to see some additional features like; Apple Watch app that allows complications on the watch face, Siri integration "Siri, what's my glucose?", administer bolus control from the app (like the old remote).

Why Oh Why?
Why make me carry yet another device. I am sure to lose it very soon especially since I don't usually have pockets and the uploader is to big to fit on my necklace. Not a good idea. This one is going back.

Everything I hoped for & more
I love viewing my CGM info on my pump, but for those times when my pump isn't easily accessible, I've always wished I could see the information else where. This app does just that, allowing me to view my CGM on something I always carry with my anyway - my iPhone. It also gives me status info on active insulin, insulin in my reservoir, how many days are left on my sensor, and the status of my battery. I can also set up notifications so my husband gets texts when my blood sugar is out of range and I haven't acted on it. So glad to add this technology to my diabetes arsenal!

Not updated yet?
Shame this great app is not yet developed for 640G pump users...

Great product
Congratulations to Medtronic on this great product. Love it

Not working anymore
It was working well until I updated to iOS 9. The unit won't even show up on my Bluetooth.

Type 1 diabetic
This is a fantastic app. It has enabled Me to look at my sugars right on my Phone

Giving Diabetes A Run For Its Money
I am absolutely and totally in love with it! I am a heavy techie and when I found out that Medtronic was going to make this technology I totally flipped! It has really helped when I am driving to not have to worry about taking my pump Any longer! I can definitely say that this is giving diabetes run for its money!👍🏾

Amazing Product
This app finally offers the convenience I have been looking for. I can now monitor my BG from my phone without having to constantly look at my pump (MiniMed 530g with Enlite). Another great feature is the direct sync with CareLink. I highly recommend this product.

Great Product!
I have been using the MiniMed Connect for a while now and absolutely love it! It has allowed to to constantly monitor my blood sugars on my iPhone, know how much active insulin I have on hand, made it easier to watch my blood sugars trending up and down, allow me a faster way to download them to CareLink and send text alerts to those I choose to let them know when I could be in trouble. It's the next best thing for managing diabetes care!

Minimed 530g user
I love this app! The ability to see my sensor readings right on my phone is amazing. I am addicted to it. If you use an Enlite sensor you will wonder how you lived without it. I love the freedom to not have to look at my pump to see my stats. Get the app!!!!

Apple Watch support a must!
The app is a good first start but for truly discreet management Apple Watch support is a must! Please make this a priority.

Another Great Minimed Product
I absolutely love the Minimed Connect! It is so nice to simply be able to look at my iPhone 6 to know what my glucose level, active insulin, and battery levels on all my devices is, rather that having to pull out my pump from under my clothing. This will be a great product for school-age children with T1D so their parents can look at their numbers online, or on their mobile devices, to know what their children's glucose levels are doing. Way to go Minimed!!

A must have
Absolutely wonderful! With one tap I can open my day's reality. I can see how my blood sugars are trending, how well my sensor is keeping up, upload to Carelink and so much more!!

Disappointed
I have been a Minimed user for 14 years. My loyalty has never faltered. Today that changed. Apple just released an iOS update- you could of at least sent a mass email to all the pre-purchased buyers and told them to not do the update. Or you could just be with the times and update the software accordingly. Your not compatible with the iwatch. I have to carry around a dongle and my phone My family can't view my info in real time like promised they have to log into care link, why can't they access data directly from this app? Can't bolus suspend or do any treatment from phone/app. I get where this part is FDA stuff but the rest is a lack of tech savvy experts. How is dexcom years ahead of you guys I'm so heart broken literally have been looking forward to this all summer and now I can't even use it. Not worth $199 I feel lied to an scammed this isn't what you promised us.

An excellent app
This app works amazingly. Easy to set up, it connects quickly, and it updates within a few seconds of a change in the pump or sensor. But there are a couple features I'd like to see coming in the future, to make it even better. I know that pump/sensor control from the phone can be a tricky thing to do, but if possible, that would be amazing. Along with that, a watchOS app would be very helpful, but that's just my laziness talking. Lastly, integration with the health app would be a great feature. I mean, the app itself works amazing, but for tracking purposes, if I can see all of my data in one app (the health app), it's less strenuous trying to remember where all my data is. All in all, a great app, but there are things I'd like to see in the future.

ABSOLUTELY NOT READY!!!!
False advertising! If you have a young child with the pump and cgm you cannot see their information from this app. If YOU wore the cgm why would you want to see the info on your phone when your pump is RIGHT THERE?!? As a parent, you have to log in to carelink in order to check on your child's numbers. You cannot move away from the site even to check a quick text message without having to log back in! ALSO - there are NO ALARMS! The app does NOT alarm of you are going low or high. What is the point?? You have to log in to the carelink site from your phone's web browser. The app does NOTHING! Complete waste of money!! Do NOT BUY THE MINIMED CONNECT! It is not ready. Use something that works like modern technology should. Try the dexcom - at least it uses a powerful contemporary app. Why do we have to wait for Medtronic catch up to the world? Terrible technology!

Good product
The MiniMed Connect is helping my endo determine a treatment plan as I type this. He is monitoring my BG's remotely to see if the new insulin dosage is working the way it should. I do wish the app worked for the care partners too though. Also, I don't the the text message alerts are working very well. I went low the other night and insulin delivery was suspended. My husband never received a text. Hopefully these will be fixed in updates. Still love it though. :)

AWESOME FOR SCHOOL
I'm 11 and I take this to school ever day and the nurses can see it on their phones and my mom can see it at home it's amazing

MINIMED CONNECT
Another great tool from Medtronics. I like it because I was always pulling my pump off my belt to check, my blood sugar, insulin in my reservoir, battery life of my pump, my 24 hour averages and more. Well with the MiniMed Connect I can look at my phone and find all this and more. It is easy to use. In fact I had more trouble finding where to write this review than I have had with the MiniMed Connect. I recommend it to anyone.

Good information
Right on the phone. This has been great for me. Also, having a colorful screen and graph is so much easier to read than the pump. Pleeeeeeease make an app for the Apple Watch now.

Great App
This is an awesome app. It is designed to be installed on the phone of a person with diabetes and transmits information from the pump via Bluetooth to CareLink web site. Parents can view this info from their phones either on CareLink mobile site or get text messages sent by CareLink site to their phones when alarm is generated. This is very convenient to use at night time when you can be woken up by a text message indicating that BG is low or high. Previous reviewer who gave one star apparently misunderstood how the whole system works. So far works pretty well. Next logical enhancement would be to build Minimed Connect device right into the pump. Another more immediate improvement would be to create an app for parents/nurses who can view info and get alerts without the need to login to CareLink site.

Disappointing and overpriced
Can only link to one phone. Was hoping me and my husband would both be able to see what my blood sugar levels are on our phones.
