APASL 2013 offers you a high-quality, multidisciplinary scientific programme that will provide a full review of the most important aspects of diagnosis and treatment in liver diseases, and of the latest achievements in this field.
It has been a long time coming, but finally APASL Liver Week 2013 in Singapore is here! The delays are over, the anticipation has ended and on behalf of the Local Organising Committee, I would like to welcome all of your to an exciting congress. The theme of the congress is "Transforming Science to Clinical Practice". We have brought more than 200 faculty comprising renowned researchers and clinicians to provide you with an outstanding menu of delicious items to savor. We start with our post graduate courses such as the Research Methodology Workshop called Translational Research 101; the Clinical Postgraduate Course on "Clinical Challenges in Liver Cirrhosis"; the Basic Science Postgraduate Course entitled "From Pathogenesis to Therapy of Viral Hepatitis". The theme of the meeting is "Transforming Science to Clinical Practice". In line with this, we have a research methodology workshop "translational hepatology 101" that will enable you to understand the science of liver disease. If you didn't understand proteomics, metalabomics, genomics, microRNA and the role of the microbiome, then you should come to this to find out more! For those with a strong interest in viral hepatitis, our postgraduate course "from pathogenesis to treatment of viral hepatitis", is an outstanding program, particularly the interaction between virology and immunology. For those who are more clinically inclined, our clinical postgraduate course on "clinical challenges in liver cirrhosis" provides a comprehensive update in this area. This course provides an overview on all causes of liver cirrhosis, their prognosis and management.
We are also privileged to hear from world experts in our state of the art lectures, and do not forget the workshop on how to use Triple Therapy for Genotype 1 HCV on 9th June, but hope you will have time to network, speak and interact with experts, pharmaceutical companies and non-governmental organisations. It's also an excellent opportunity to renew old friendships in the numerous sessions during the Congress. In this Congress, the WHO will be making a major announcement on initiatives on viral hepatitis, as the momentum from the WHO resolution starts to have an impact.
