Download banner issue
When trying to download video, there is a huge banner that pops up on the middle of the display that obscures the entire display and prevents interacting with the app.
Solution: a banner that appears at the bottom or top of the display with the progress bar that also allows interacting with the app while the video is being downloaded.

My go-to medical app!
I'm a mom as well as a caregiver for my parents. This app makes it easier for me to research medical questions and to learn more about surgical procedures and treatment plans recommended by doctors. I always use it to prepare a list of questions before important medical appointments, and it's been really helpful. I also use it to check symptoms, which helps me decide whether or not to call a doctor, go to the ER or watch/wait at home.
I really LOVE that it is completely free of advertising. So many other medical apps/websites are cluttered with ads and/or force you to click so many times just to read one article. This has no annoying pop-up ads and no barriers to finding the information I want.

This use to be available only for professionals, now this knowledge is available for consumers! This is my new go to for everything medical!

I love how easy it is to use the Merck Manual app. Having the Merck Manual on my phone provides me peace of mind because I can have medical information in my hands, even when there’s no internet or cell service. If you’re a mom, Merck Manual is a must. Not only can I search symptoms, injuries, or emergencies, but I can go to the doctor better prepared thanks to the Merck Manual Consumer app.

After update , the app is unusable. Is much too complex to use. Tried to find info on "vertigo", couldn't get info. Too bad as I deleted this app and will find another medical info app that is simple and easy too use.

What you need to know about this app
This app provides the same info as the trusty Merck Manual my family relied on since I can remember (it's still on the bookshelf BTW). Truly great to see this new app in the app store.
- Free (What?? last time I checked it was like $20)
- No Ads (not a "lite" version either, the real deal)
- It's all downloaded to your phone (no wifi or phone signal needed - and thats when you likely need it the most)
Also, downloaded the Pro version, its free as well and gives you the next level info to be a real know it all.

Very straightforward and easy to use. It's great to have the knowledge of the entire Merck Manual in the palm of my hand, regardless of a wifi connection. The educational videos are very interactive and excellent quality! I recommend this app to anyone who wants their medical info on the go.

Awesome app
Works really well and does what it's supposed to do. People complain that the app is empty, it's a lot of data give it time to download. When I first opened it it was empty for me too, I left it be and now I have the full book or whatever you call it and it works great.

Merck Manual is Awesome!
The updated Merck Manual is even better than before. It has what looks like many thousands of entries in its index. The descriptions are clear and thorough. It's a GREAT medical reference book. Get it!

This app is well worth the price; you get more than your money's worth. It is very informative.
I also own the hardback edition of the Merck Manual Home Health Handbook on which this app is based.
This app in my iPod touch is a handy addition - a 'portable supplement' - to the hardback edition.

Not worth the price unless you use this everyday. Basically just reformats the info found on their website like most of the wikipedia apps.

Not user friendly, research by keyword is not well elaborated and the content is too basic and not helpful for a doctor.

The information is wrong
First thing I looked up was "snakebite" (I'm Australian) and the info given was wrong. It didnt direct to apply a pressure bandage which is the most critical step and the onhe that will save your life. It certainly makes me wonder about the rest of the information provided. I submitted a complaint and its been a week and still no response.
You would certainly like to think that an app for First-Aid doesnt have any errors and if it did, then the authors would be right onto it.
This is not a cheap app and I expected so much more!

It is simply incredible to have this much information wherever you go. There is so much content here it's unbelievable. I was skeptical of spending 10 bucks, but after doing it I'm very happy. Get this!

Very well explained. Very cheap taking into account all the information you will have in your hands. This is the Home Edition is not intended for Doctors, there is another version named Professional Edition for that audience.
don't waste your money
In the past I have owned hard copies of the Merck Manual and they were wonderful. And that is why I didn't think twice of spending my hard earned money for a The Merck Manual - Home Edition. But don't waste your money because you can get the same information if you just Google it and not be out $9.99.

Use it every day
As a research nurse working with many populations and rare diseases, I frequently come upon diagnoses and disorders that I have not worked with before. Having the Merck Manual in my pocket so I have it at my fingertips at all times has been invaluable. Having the favorites icon allows me to store those things I come upon most frequently in one place and access them quickly. It is concise and very readable and is accessed almost daily. Best of all, you do not need internet access which is an excellent bonus and critical to my usage.
The Medical Reference to Have
This is one of the must have apps in my judgment. Used it when my child got sick on a trip. Now has full iPad support making the app super. Thanks to the developers for such a nice job with such a useful reference.

This is a good resource and has been useful to me more than once. You could probably dig out the same info with some Google searches, but this app makes it so much easier!
