Customer Reviews

Come on UPDATE!!!! Simply NOT good enough.
Worked fine on my 3GS, but now I have a 5S, I can't add anymore data. Also, an easy way to transfer data in a format suitable for plotting - e.g. Excel compatible for Mac and PC would be very useful.

iOS 9 compatibility
Apple released iOS 9 in October 2015 along with the new iPhone 6s. When will the app be upgraded to be compatible with iOS 9?

Good start but needs work
Context: I'm a 40+ year type 1 with good control. Sanofi should not be offering an app that is not current with the current IOS 9.2. I attribute the numerous faults of the app and the metre to this issue. Having said that it's a great start and is promising in many ways. What should work and doesn't makes me want them to do the update quickly so I can start using the product daily. Over to you Sanofi.

Awful
UPDATE PLEASE IPHONE 6???? The versions is not old barley anyone has the 4/4s !!! Horrible just purchased the meters too!! 😡😡😡

Waste of money
Does not work with iPhone 6s do not buy as is useless

Love it
I'm very pleased with this app and this product. I'd like to see it integrated into health.

No control solution available 👿
App works fine with iPhone 6 - problem is with the company - no control solution available and the strips + the control solution supplied with the purchase of the meter were out of date by 20 months. This one is straight in the bin - useless without the control

It was good but not updated
It was a useful app, now the money I spent on it was down the pan because it doesn't sync with Health or latest iOS.

IBGSTAR
I have an iPhone 6 and had to buy the Lightning to 30 Pin Adapter so I could use the meter with my phone. I'm also running the iOS 8.4 and it works. Yes you get a notification saying it may not be compatible but IT DOES WORK with the iPhone 6 ... so far I'm happy with this meter and the App which is so easy to use. The App doesn't give you the choice to add in for extra meals like morning tea etc but I have added them into the notes bit and I've also taken things out of the note part ... I've given the five stars cause the meter and app are working fine with the iPhone 6 and I can adjust the app to my needs just need to add at your end the before and after test for morning and afternoon teas and supper time ... I've been a type 1 for 23yrs and I test10+times a day due to I'm a very brittle diabetic

Updates yet?
Is this not due an update?

Not good
The least you can do is keep the app up to date! This is the type of app that should be getting a number of updates throughout the year! Come on get a update out ASAP

App now useless
I have purchased the 30 pin adaptor in order to use the tester on my iPhone 5 but it no longer works. I think enough time has passed for an update to have been issued so the the tester can be used on iPhones newer than 4S. I'm really disappointed that this has not been done quicker

IBG*STAR
Ibg*star don't working on OS 8.2. When will you sort out?

Top Product
I have been using this for a few years now and linked with my iPhone am well pleased - excellent APP! I have used it on an iPhone 5 and now an iPhone 6 with the Apple adapter it is occasionally tempramental but I have over two years of readings now which I find very useful. I would not use anything else!

Stopped working with 8.1.1
Hi, meter no longer downloads readings after iOS 8.1.1 update on iPhone 4S, now useless i’m afraid

Great Diabetes Monitor
Have been using since April and have had no problems even since I have updated my IPhone 5 to IOS 8 Update would be great to remove annoying notice.

Great blood glucose tracker
This app is great for tracking blood glucose history. I use it standalone, without the BG Star meter. My doctor loves that I can export the results to a report and email it to him.

Disappointed
I bought the iBG Star meter and then downloaded the app. I have aniPhone 6 running iOS8.0 and now I find out that it's not compatible. Come one Sanofi-Aventis, with the money your company has surely you can get one little app to work on the newest iOS. Seems it's been lacking since the iPhone 5 came out. It is annoying to have to enter the information manually because this makes the purchase of the actual meter unnecessary! The app is great but save yourself some $$ and don't bother buying the meter and just use the app as a standalone.

Please update
Great app but really need to update it for ios8 and iPhone 6

Good but has flaws
You carry your phone around with you anyway, so having to only carry a tiny meter is fantastic. Being able to track trends and see historical levels is great. What problems are there? Here: 1 - the device has the old connector and they still haven't released a Lightning connector type 2 - using an adaptor to make the device with with the lightning connector gives errors 4/5 time you plug it in, so you have to keep re plugging it in 3 - it should have been updated to put values into Health app, it's virtually no work at all but it looks like they've given up on the app 4 - there doesn't seem to be a way of getting the values out of the app, no export of any sort

Cloud Sync
It would be great if it could sync across devices.

Disappointing
Works (kind of) ok on iPhone 4 & 3GS and inaccurately formatted on iPad2 but unfortunately meter refuses to work on iPhone 5S or iPad mini using an approved adapter. The app is great, but meter won't upload to it or be accepted by 5s or mini, rendering it useless. Either improve the hardware of meter or the app to be accepted on iOS 7.1.2. I won't be able to use it until then. Not wasting strips for a useless app.

Excellent but....
Love this, no need to carry meter around and results book as you can type results onto your phone and I can send a straight email to my diabetics team.... But I've now upgraded my iPhone to the iPhone 5s which has a different input and can't plug the meter into my phone even with an adapter it doesn't work!! Will there be a new meter???!

Amazing!
Awesome app that allows me to test my BGL in the go! High quality stuff!

Very good app, but...
I have to delete the app to send my phone off for repair and there's no easy way to take the information out of the app and get it onto my computer and vice versa. It means, in order to really keep an eye on what my medicine is doing, I'm going to have to re-enter all the data by hand. I have some readings going back to last year, and the date picker will allow that, but it doesn't give you any easy way to set the year without scrolling manually back through. A way of exporting the data would also really help me share my data with my doctor... Don't get me wrong - when I'm not having phone issues, I really live the app. It has great reporting and allows you to keep track of everything! I just have the one annoyance with import/export of data :)

iBG Star
Das ist die Zukunft!!! Coole App.! Coole Hardware!

Weiter so!!!

IBG Star
Also top App. Klasse

Alles in allem gelungen
Die App. ist einfach, verständlich und logisch. Funktioniert gut. Also eigentlich kein Problem.

Also ein Durchschnittstag. Wäre echt hilfreich, auch für die Sprechstunde.

fast komplett

IBG Star
Great device works well good single point of information just need to get GP and endo onto it.

Rising Star
Some great reviews on the radio about this new app that combines with the iBGStar blood glucose monitoring device. At last a way for rural Australian people with diabetes to stay connected to clinicians in major cities.

Chisel
I have been a diabetic for 38 years and I have had a lot of testers in that time this is the best so far I always have my iPhone with me so now I have my tester too, small compact and looks great with the option of the hard cover so I can leave it on all the time and it won't get knocked off, I love it.

Choice
With two children with diabetes it's always an uphill struggle to keep them monitoring there blood glucose , what a relief that this actually makes it fun and easy and as a parent I can keep the doctors in the loop, very pleased

Mr
An extremely useful apps and meter that is best available. It would be greatly help if the app and meter be updated to support new Lightning connector for IPhone 5 and New Gen ITouch. If you have the new Apple products don't bother to download app and purchase meter until the Sanofi rectify the compatibility problem. Need app to include supporting the connection of both the IBGStar and BGStar For earlier IPhones the best market

Good but needs updating
i find it a good little app that compliments the igbstar bgm well. like to see it updated to run on ipads (without the annoying warning -not tested on this hardware). like to have a general comments free text field and accommodate a second insulin for long acting or basal rate changes(for pump users) on the cards. A flag (change of dot on the trend graph) for the indication of significant events that a diabetic wants to bring to attention when reviewing sugars with physician. Some similar improvements on the reporting emailing function. able to download and general print locally. (can't seem to use email function on the ipad - non 3G model)

Awesome
Very easy to use & to add / modify Notes to suit your needs (within the existing framework). I don't have the tester yet & am just using the app with a normal tester & loving it.

Great App
This is an awesome app with great functionality and potential. Just one query though - any plans for native iPad support rather an just scaling?

Allow 2 insulin doses on cards please.
Excellent app!! Very useful. Links with iBG STAR blood tester really well. Only issue is that the cards only allow one insulin amount. I inject short and long acting insulin, often at the same time. I have to add a new card when I am doing this. Please fix this. Ta

AWESOME APP
This user friendly app has made my life on track. Keep up the good work. Thank you so much. 👍

Mr
Absolutely fantastic app especially when used in conjunction with the meter. However, as other reviews have noted the app would be improved if multiple insulins could be added to any given scorecard. At present I add my twice daily basal dose as a note on my pre-B'Fast/Dinner scorecards which results in a separation of insulin data when e-mailing the logbook.

iOS 7 and iPhone 5 support—Yay!
Very happy with the update. I use this everyday, and it's nice to see it's still seeing some updates.

Awesome!
Such a good app, helps me to manage my diabetes easily and see trends which keep me healthier!

User Hostile
Sorry cannot recommend. I loved the concept however they failed to deliver on performance and the device continually failed to sync when connected to the iPhone 4S.

Best Little App
Since the system came out and the app was developed I have found it to be excellent in its ability to help with the management of my diabetes.

Diabetically fantastic
This app is the most useful tool for diabetics who have an iBG⭐️STAR monitor. The service support of Sanofi, the supplier, is 5 star fantastic. I'd have given it 5 star overall if it had the option to manually put in extra tests after snacking to check what kind of spikes different foods caused.

iOS update 2014
Great app but rendered useless after latest iOS update. Please update app so we can sync readings with app again.

Good App
It's a great wee app - makes monitoring that bit easier as I can view my results on the phone would be nice if it could predict Insulin dose and do some form of carb counting! Otherwise it's great!

Brilliant!
Having just brought this, (first time in 20 years!) as even the reps were not able to source them, I'm a little disgruntled, however! The size is tiny compared to my accu-check mobile and the fact it has iPhone compatability is brilliant! The app does need a few tweaks as posted by others but I'm sure they will come with future updates, you just have to remember this is a new product with the usual teething problems. Overall, as a stand alone app there are better ones, but with the meter it's fantastic!

DAFNE
I was reading the comment made by Beltshazzaruk on 28 Nov 2011 did you have any feed back about your suggestion about making the app more DAFNE friendly because if they could then it would make monitoring BG alot easier. Let's hope they do or an option to include it if you want.

Dafne
Very good app & would recommend it but until it's compatible with dafne I shall just plod along with other apps. Bit of a shame really as I'm thinking of buying the bg testing device.

It's OK but needs improvements
I'm a relatively new type 1 and I must have been one of the first in the UK lucky enough to test this complete meter and iPhone/iPod solution and I feel that it lacks function at the moment as I have still been going back to my original apps for day-to-day use. I have not used the Carbs or the Insulin tabs for the following reasons: The carbs one you have to enter all in one hit and a simple calculator function here with the addition of a '+' button to add your carbs as you entered them would really improve this. The insulin tab should be automatically calculated on the algorithms used to calculate the amount of insulin based on the the glucose and carbs entered. You would require the settings recommended by your specialists for this though. With these two additions to the app it would be greatly improved and as an all in one solution be very good. I can only wait in hope that these functions are added as it's still in the early stages I'm happy to wait.

Perfect, but.....
It's a great app but the city and the farm themes don't work and also you can't put any tags you want on without changing the pre defined meal times that are set already which is annoying as its completely confusing on what times you are supposed to set them on in order for you to tag the meal u want. Please change it so you can tag it to whatever meal you want without having to Change the set meal times themselves and also you could do with a note section so that you can write and comments you want to x please update with these things!! Part from that I love it! X

Works brilliantly
I've been using this with the meter for a few days so far, and it's working brilliantly. The app works really well with the meter. Great graphics! I've been leaving the meter attached to the iPhone 4s during the day and just pulling it out to test..so easy. Not expensive either, not paying the tax! Few improvements: maybe app automatically opening on iPhone when strip is inserted into meter. My battery does seem to drain a little faster with using it throughout the day but I'm easily getting a days usage having tested 5 times with normal usage too. Well done guys. This will make a huge difference to people's lives. Very impressed

Ibgstar
I just got my meter so far so good, the only thing I think needs changing is the way it automatically puts ur result where it thinks it goes for example I did my test pre dinner and it logged it as post dinner, I'm not sure if I'm doin something wrong yet so hope I can change that! But all in all a great invention

Great app
Hoping to see an improvement with my diabetes control with using this meter and app. As I take 2 types of insulin and a Metformin with my evening meal would like to be able to add them into one log instead of having to create a new log for each insulin type and tablet. Maybe a + button for where you select insulin / med type. A carb ratio would be awesome too !!!

Amazing
Brilliant app I've been diabetic for 11 years and I always loose or forget to write my bloods in my diary and this makes it easy. I've recently found out I'm pregnant and my diabetic midwife specialist and diabetic consultants think its brilliant can't believe it's free. GET THIS APP!!!

Brilliant solution
I bought the ibgstar blood testing kit and find that I can record my blood glucose results easily and accurately. My only suggestion would be to have the ability to write a note alongside each test. Would recommend the blood glucose tester and this app to anyone who like me is a little disorganised with their testing and recording as the way forward. Brilliant

Fantastic
Does everything that you need.

Fantastic …..but
I was on the point of submitted a five star golden review for this superb software. Since I downloaded it, I have had no problems and found it informative with the exception of it not keeping track of insulin doses …. or have I missed something. Still it's a great tool. However, just an hour ago, I was checking the log and the trend line, and noticed that the logbook has all my tests since download but my the trend line has only got the last two day's worth. What happened and can I get this graph data back?

Superb app!
The best blood glucose app I've seen by far. Anyone who is having problems should call the company on 08000 352525. Any of the issues raised here by others can be dealt with on the phone easily.

Excellent but ???
Excellent app but would be better if the insulin dose was shown on the sugar level graph with the level scale on one side and the dose scale level on the other like the Diabetes dairy app

A perfect device
I love it! Hope I will not be disappointed when I will have to buy new strips. At the shop they could not give me the price ....

What a fantastic App!
I am a pumper with two kids, so don't have the time to write down all my bgs and certainly not my insulin intake etc. this is the only app that allows me to easily and quickly record my bgs and plot them. I also think the record being emailed to me to show my dsn is absolutely genius!!

Best device EVER
Can't fault this at all, easy to use and friendly customer service staff. If the results are not syncing though change iPhone clock to 24hours

Pales in comparison to conventional meters
The app itself is great as a management app to monitor your blood glucose and keep track of everything that's going on with your diabetes... However the meter itself reads waaaay off to my Beyer contour, which has always matched results with hospital equipment. Mine reads anything from 4-10 mmol/l too high, resulting in a lot of unwanted and dangerously low hypos trying to correct an apparently high blood sugar reading. In aware that it may just be my meter and not a problem for the masses, but whilst I still use the app, the meter sits gathering dust in my cupboard because it was a hazard to my life.

Excellent software & hardware!
Really enjoying extracting blood for a change!:)

Almost there!
To make this app perfect for me it could really do with the following tag options: Before exercise During exercise After exercise Stress Basal rate changes e.g +% or -% Otherwise the potential to be a great app.

App needs to match machine quality
The new monitor for iPhone and so on is a LIFE CHANGER! Only just started using iBGStar but App needs: 1. Bigger carb data base with a meal group option to ease input of carb totals for meals. 2. Text option that is general and not to be stored as an option. One off comments (I may have missed something sorry Ibgstar if this is the case). 3. Expandable navigation buttons that are easy to show/hide. 4. Insulin chart options to show what insulin was taken when. 5. CASE FOR IPHONE that holds ibgstar monitor a lancet and couple of strips so I don't need anything but my phone in my pocket. Anyone else makes a good one put it on eBay please! This product and app will change my life style and control if you get it right. Good luck. And Thanks

love it
Makes life that lil bit easier ;)

Love It!
I couldn't write every reading etc down, was too depressing. Then I seen the iBGStar meter and fell in love with it, even went out and bought an iPod even tho I'm not a fan. I have reduced my Hba1c to a far better level and it has saved me a lot of time. Would recommend this to anyone

Amazing
Would get the app even without the meter. It was about time paper diaries became obsolete!

Best meter available
I've tried nearly every meter and this is the best one by far. The app is very good too, well laid out and easy to use, when you look at other diabetes apps available, there's really no comparison. There is room for improvement though, you can store so much data that could give you real feedback about how you're doing, but at the moment there is only a graph and table to give you an overview. It would be great to see more options on how to view data and most importantly the notes and other information aside from BG readings. Some more export and backup options would be good too, it would be great to be able to access this data via a web interface, or even an iPad or Mac app. The addition of an alarm to remind you to check your BG would be a fantastic addition, but the holy grail would be for an insulin dosage calculator, if this app could give you a recommended insulin dosage based on carbs and BG, it would be close to perfection. So many suggestions, but I do hope the developer builds on a great platform, I showed it to my GP recently and he was astounded at how good it was. Please keep up the good work.

Diabetic
I have diabetes type 1 and love this app/ product. It keeps everything together and easy to see where I'm going wrong in my control ont tables it automatically creates. Thank you to the makers of app would strongly recommend .

Fantastic app, needs iPad version.
I have used this app for nearly a year now, and have found it great for managing my blood sugars. Since upgrading to an iPad I would like this app to follow. :)

Useless
Although a nice idea, that's all I can say for ibgstar. The testing system is EXCEPTIONALLY UNRELIABLE. I typically takes 8-15 goes to get a result. The UK rep seems clueless, "we'll send you some more strips then". I SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO GET 3 TESTS FROM A TUB OF 50 STRIPS. This happens too regularly from too many sets of strips. I suggested it was the meter at fault, the rep assured me it wasn't. So in that case, I CANNOT RECOMMEND IBGSTAR AT ALL. Sanofi are a new name in blood-testing and their products show this. My advice - stick with the "big names" - your fingers won't hurt & your GP's budget won't be hurt.

Great app
Great app don't have ibg star meter but am getting soon

Easy
Small and simple. This device and app has made having diabetes a lot easier. All my data is clear and easy to export for/to my doctor. I would highly recommend this app and the ibgstar device to anyone.

Fantastic!
Love this app! I have used every meter on the market and this is by far the best! I am fanatic about my iPhone and have always said that someone should make a meter that works with it and now they have! Fantastic!

Love it, but needs an iPad app
This is exactly what I was after. A new way of logging blood sugars and insulin doses, but using today's technology instead of a little book from the 1900's. I love the trend graphs etc... A couple of suggestions though. I'd love to see trend graphs based on time of day. I'd also love to see an iPad/Mac app that syncs this data via iCloud. When having hospital visits, it would be great to be able to show the doctor trending graphs, etc, on a decent sized screen. If I had these extra abilities, this would without a doubt be a 5 star app.

Great App
Hi, I find this a really helpful app! I'm using it with the iBgstar meter and after a few days of readings, I dock with my iPhone and all my results are recorded for viewing on my iPhone. I would also like to see data shared via iCloud for viewing on my iPad.

Great idea - durability of hardware questionable
Having a meter integrated with an iPhone is a great idea - one less piece of kit to carry around. The meter seems to be extremely accurate and requires only a small sample (better than my previous Bayer. If you want to keep the meter permanently attached to your phone you need the integrated case that holds the meter rigidly against the phone. Without this the connector will flex and the meter will stop working. My first 3 meters lasted about 3 weeks each. Not the greatest app for management. The logbook and trend chart functions are primitive compared to Medtronic's Carelink or some of the programs that come with BG meters e.g. Bayer's Winglucofacts. The system worked well until the latest upgrade to DMA 2.1. New version will not sync routinely with phone - Have reported to Sonofi Aventis and been advised it could take a month for a response.

Very good app
Very easy to use and very handy to keep track of your blood sugars

Very handy
This app makes me want to test my levels more. Very handy, small and even good to look at. One feature I would like added is an ability to set alarms on it to remind you to test your sugars. I know I could use phone alarm but just be even better through the app.

Excellent App
Excellent app which is well implemented. Highly recommended.

Great app, few minor additions would make it perfect!
An alarm facility would be a very welcome addition to remind to do tests. Would also like to be able to zoom in a little more on the graphs. The ibg star machine itself could do with a light pointing out where the test strip goes for testing in poor lighting conditions, and I get a lot of error 4 messages for no apparent reason, but other than all this, it's a great app and machine. Small, aesthetically pleasing, the logging of data is so easy, graphs help to spot patterns and I love that if your iPod's battery does you can do a test and attach it at a later time to download the tests. Easy to use too :)

Great glucose monitoring app
I'm really happy with this app but it is very temperamental with my iPad3. I know the app specifically states it is not certified, but please could the developers tackle these small issues. Some more advanced analysis features would also be a great additional.

Love this app
I have been using this app since the beginning of the year and love being able to add notes. Is it possible to be able to have the scatter graph sent as part of the report? I would did this a great help as I'm currently doing it manually myself

Great
Brilliant all it needs is an alarm to tell me when i need to test my bloods and its easier especially as i go to school and i just carry it around with me!!!

Great app but
I love this app, have got 2 meters the ibg star and the normal bg star both sync to my iPhone (you need to ring them to get a docking lead for the bg star ) the only drawback for me is the lack of detailed reports the app can produce. I have the BGStar management system on my laptop and can produce loads of reports as well as putting in my name, hospital no etc , all this would be nice in the app, as well as direct printing . Perhaps the developers will add these features at a later date. But all in all 9 out 10.

Excellent App!
A truly excellent App. BUT, it would be good to have a text box available to enter additional text pertaining to a reading - e.g. to record what was eaten which might have caused a high reading. I know that this is presently possible up to a point in the "Notes" section, but you might end up with a rather long list of things to scroll through... so a text box would be much more convenient.

Great app but could do with a few little extras
Been using this app since diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I like the report it creates in an email but it would be nice if you can print these reports out using air print. It would also be good to be able to export and import the stats as with the iPhone you may need to reset it and if that's the case you lose the data held. Maybe a good idea to be able sync the app and pc data together. Overall I like the app!

Great app
Didn't work at first with my iPhone and the adaptor but now working

It works and is helpful
Two aspects where this app (and the accompanying meters) are useful and would recommend it (and them) highly: i) Data recording: I am a data junkie and collect this stuff but more importantly use my blood sugar data to review how control has been over weeks or months. The convenience of using the app with the meters to store and transfer data is, over the thousands of tests done over the years, great. ii) Data review. I find the data presented in the app to be useful for spotting trends, particularly when away before the data is shipped back to the database I use. The iBGStar can be expensive but I have found it be worth it. I also have a couple of the BGStar (heavier) meters which are a little more expendable and fine to leave in the car, in the office etc. The iBGStar comes into its own for portability.

Control much improved
A great app that has genuinely helped improve my control and commitment to managing my diabetes. Only suggestions would be to be able to add manual notes to your entries, and perhaps somewhere to enter calories too to help keep an eye on diet. But otherwise an absolutely great app!

Setting the standard in blood glucose monitoring
Best meter I've ever used... I've been diabetic for about 25 years and the ibg star is by far the best meter I've had.. The app makes it easy for you to see if you are hitting your target levels and makes it easy to input your carb, insulin and exercise levels which when all combined as one neat little package (btw I for got to mention how small the meter is and the fact it runs without being attached to the iphone/iPod/ipad) actually makes your blood glucose monitoring somewhat fun and like a game.. Please note, the iPhone 5 5s and 5c and ipad mini with retina display (or and I device with the new 8pin lightening plug are not directly compatible and you will need to buy an adaptor for roughly around £10

Great meter but does not work 100 % with iPhone 5S
I have been a type 1 diabetic for 20 years and have been apple mad for 10 years so this product supports my diabetes monitoring and makes it fun for an apple person.I set the app and devise up on my iPhone 4S and all worked perfectly. I then set up the app (latest version) on my iPhone 5S and attached the monitor using a certified apple 30 pin to 8 pin adaptor. The App recognises the device and does the auto sync of data and time etc however it does not recognise when a new blood reading is being taken and does not show the animated screen or auto add the reading taken to a new entry as it does on the iPhone 4S. Maybe I am doing something wrong but would be keen to have this feature working on the 5S - Apart from that this is an excellent app and devise.
