Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is an allegory of Evidence Based Medicine. There is no talk of diagnosis or prognosis, but of diagnostic and prognostic strategies. These are based on the use of clinical prediction scales and algorithms derived from scientific evidence of higher quality and collected in the main Clinical Practice Guidelines.
